Focus West Gallery and Les Voorhis

Les Voorhis is an award winning photographer based in Spearfish, SD where he owns Focus West Gallery and Framing, one of the area's finest art galleries. His straight-forward artistic approach to nature and wildlife is evidenced in his extensive library of images highlighting the natural world in all of it's splendor.

Les began his photography career as a portrait photographer in Colorado, transitioned to managing one of the west's largest stock photo agencies, and eventually selling his own images to magazines, calendar companies and for advertising purposes. In recent years, Les moved back home to South Dakota where he has had much success as a full time nature and wildlife photographer. He is currently selling his images to the public through a hefty schedule of art shows throughout the region, directly and via mail order through his gallery and website (www.focuswestgallery.com), and as a contract photographer.

Les is also a teacher. Along with his business partner, fellow photographer Jason Hahn, he offers workshops throughout the United States. The workshops are designed for everyone from the rank beginner to seasoned pro. For the last several years he has also been working with one of his corporate sponsors, Tamron, to bring photography to the masses. His teaching style is relaxed yet filled with technical and creative knowledge affording those in the class the opportunity to expand their skills. Current outings include cowboy photography workshops, unique landscape photo workshops, as well as wild mustangs, and wild bear adventures and many more.
